Guidance on Caring for customised garments
To maximise the lifespan and visual appeal of your personalised garments, adhering to these principles will assist you in optimising their longevity and overall condition.
Due to the customised nature of your garment, it's important to note that relying solely on the care label instructions stitched into the garment may not suffice. In addition to following those instructions, please make sure to consider the following guidelines:
Wash inside out This protective measure helps minimise direct contact between the customisations and the washing machine or other items in the wash, reducing the risk of damage.
Close Zips before washing to prevent them from snagging or causing abrasions to the customisations.
Wash at 30°C Washing at this lower temperature helps preserve the fabric, prevent colour fading, and minimise the risk of shrinkage or damage to the customisations.
Do not use bleach, harsh detergents, or fabric conditioners These products can potentially cause damage to the fabric and customisations, leading to colour fading, deterioration, or discolouration. Instead, opt for mild and gentle detergents specifically formulated for delicate garments.
Do not overload the washing machine Overloading can lead to inadequate cleaning, improper rinsing, and increased friction between the garments, which may result in damage to the fabric or customisations. It is recommended to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for the maximum load capacity of your washing machine and ensure that there is sufficient space for the water and detergent to circulate freely.
Wash with similar colours & similar textured garments (at least for the first few washes) This precaution is essential as certain dyes and pigments used in customisations may have a tendency to run or transfer onto other fabrics when exposed to water and friction.
Dry immediately after washing By drying the garment immediately after washing, you minimise the chances of moisture lingering and potentially causing mildew or unwanted odours. Depending on the care instructions, you can choose to air dry the garment or use a tumble dryer on a low or delicate setting. Ensure that the garment is completely dry before storing or wearing it to preserve its integrity and appearance.
If tumble drying only use low or delicate setting. However it is recommended to air dry where possible.
Do not dry-clean Dry-cleaning involves the use of harsh chemicals and processes that may be detrimental to the fabric and customisations. These chemicals can potentially cause fading, discolouration, or damage to the personalised elements of the garment.
Iron inside out using the lowest heat setting Ironing on a lower heat setting and with the garment turned inside out helps protect the printed elements from potential damage, such as fading, melting, or sticking to the iron. It is also advisable to use a pressing cloth or a clean, thin fabric layer between the iron and the customisations to provide an additional barrier.
For optimal hygiene and to remove any potential manufacturing residues or chemicals, it is advisable to wash a new garment before its first use. Washing the garment helps eliminate any dirt, dust, or irritants that may be present in the manufacturing process, as well as any packaging odours. Additionally, washing can also soften the fabric and improve its overall comfort. By washing a new garment before wearing it, you ensure a fresh and clean experience while minimising the risk of skin irritation or discomfort.
Failure to follow the care advice will invalidate the warranty of your garments.
